Kathryn L. Funk, age 79, of Republic, Ohio, died at 1:05 am, Thursday, September 30, 2004, at St. Vincent-Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio. She was born March 2, 1925, in Tiffin, Ohio, to the late Reuben and Pauline (Lawrence) Eckert. On December 15, 1945, in Tiffin, she married Richard P. Funk. He died on May 17, 1992. Other survivors include 2 sons, Richard D. (Brenda) Funk of Clyde, Ohio, Terry (Janice) Funk of Fort Collins, Colorado; 2 daughters, Patricia (Michael) Helkey-Burns of Naples, Florida, Wanda (Bill) Eberhard of Loveland, Colorado; 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 brother, Robert Eckert of Tiffin; 2 sisters, Beatrice Lynch of Bettsville, Ohio, and Joann Bland of Fostoria, Ohio. She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Finsel, and a brother, Charles Eckert.
Mrs. Funk was a homemaker and a school bus driver for the Tiffin City Schools. She was also the former co-owner of Clinton Lake Campground. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, and was an avid golfer, bowler, bingo player, and bunco player.
Rev. James Say will celebrate the funeral Mass. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
