Kathleen Rose Scherger, 85, of Tiffin, died at 10:55 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, at St. Francis Home.
She was born Mar. 2, 1930, in Tiffin, to Carl M. and Margaret P. (Homan) Smith. She married Victor Scherger Aug. 25, 1956, in Tiffin, and he died Jan. 28, 2003.
Survivors include three sons, Kevin V. (Rebecca) Scherger of Clyde and Fred Scherger of Tiffin, and David A. (Diana) Scherger of Dover, Delaware; three daughters, Theresa Scherger, Victoria Sanchez, and Patricia (Dennis) Snay all of Tiffin; a granddaughter, Lindsay Rae Scherger, of Clyde; two step-grandchildren, Brandon Snay of Findlay and Jennifer Snay of Arlington; a brother, Thomas Smith of California; and three sisters, Doris Wise, of Tiffin, Margaret A. Kin of Forest, and Marilyn Podach of Fostoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Carl Smith; a sister, Evelyn Schetter; and a son-in-law, Joe Sanchez.
Kathleen was a 1948 graduate of Calvert High School and she owned Frostbite Ice Cream Concession. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rosary Altar Society, a Eucharistic Minister and member of the Third Order of St. Francis.
Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb.16, 2016, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. A wake service will be at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Visitation will also be 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, at St. Francis Home Chapel with the funeral Mass at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Joseph Szybka will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis Home or to a charity of the donor’s choice in care of the funeral home.
