Karen Jeanette Kinstler, 75, of Tiffin went to be with her Lord on June 26, 2021, at Randall Residence, Tiffin, after a 10 year battle with cancer.
Karen was born April 28, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio to Norman J. and Mildred L. Durst. She married Richard L. Kinstler on December 21, 1968, in Cincinnati and he survives.
She is survived by a son, Eric (Billie) Kinstler of Gastonia, North Carolina; and a daughter, Christy Kinstler of Cincinnati; two grandchildren, Megan Kinstler and Meredith Kinstler both of Gastonia.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Robert Durst.
Karen was a homemaker, gardener, and musician. She graduated in 1968 from Miami of Ohio University. She was a teacher in Hamilton County, Ohio, Goldsboro, North Carolina, and Tiffin. After retiring in 2005, she substituted in the Tiffin City Schools and tutored at Bridges Academy. Karen was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Tiffin. She sang in the choir, taught, and was co-chairman of the Christian Education Committee for many years, and chief gardener. She helped with the Ecumenical Sharing Kitchen and was a long-time volunteer and member of the board of directors of FISH of Tiffin. She attended and lead several ladies' Bible studies.
Karen donated her body to the Toledo University Medical Center.
A Celebrations of Life will be Saturday, July 3, 2021, at 12 noon at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 46 Madison Street, Tiffin. Visitation will be 11 a.m. -12 noon at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s U.M.C.
Thanks to the staff at Randall Residence for their excellent care. Also, thanks to the many from Tiffin and around the country that visited, sent cards, and flowers during her final months.
