Juliana M. Kern, 93, formerly of Clay Street, Tiffin, Ohio died at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, January 12, 2006 at Elmwood at the Shawhan, Tiffin. She was born January 19, 1912 in New Riegel, Ohio to the late Frank and Joanna (Hemmelgarn) Harlett. On October 16, 1939 in St. Mary Rectory, Tiffin, Ohio she married Robert M. Kern who died December 13, 2001.
She is survived by 3 sons, Michael Kern of Polk, Ohio; Richard (Elaine) Kern of McCutchenville, Ohio; John (Julie) Kern of Tiffin, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 1 brother, C. Manfred Harlett of Tiffin.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers Constantine, Alphonse, and Arthur Harlett and 2 sisters Mildred Manglitz and Olga Backs.
Mrs. Kern was a graduate of Calvert High School, a wife, mother, homemaker and an avid gardener. She loved flowers inside and out and enjoyed raising African Violets. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin; and a member of the Altar Rosary Society.
Visitation will be from 3-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2006 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. The Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2006 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin officiated by Rev. Timothy Ferris. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will take place immediately following in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church.
