Services and burial have been conducted for Nita Dariano, 86, who died at home on January 22, 2011. She was born July 8, 1924 in Buckland, Ohio to Lowell and Mary (Colton) McDonald. One sister, Lois Sorg, preceded her in death.
Nita graduated from Tiffin High in 1942. As a product of the “Greatest Generation” she served in the Women’s Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Upon returning to Tiffin, Nita was employed by the Ohio Bell Telephone Company as a switchboard operator.
She married Joseph Dariano on July 5, 1947, a union which lasted until his death in 2004. Together they began Dariano Construction Company in 1963 with Nita serving as office manager.
Her life was devoted to raising their three children, as well as participating in various hobbies such as, bowling, golf, cooking and square dancing. After retirement, Nita and Joe traveled to Europe and extensively throughout the United States.
Survivors include; two sons, Douglas (Karen) Dariano of Perrysburg, and David (Kathy) Dariano of Tiffin; one daughter, Deborah (Chuck) Heater of Gainesville, FL; six grandchildren, Michael (Erin) Dariano of Athens, OH, Benjamin Dariano of Columbus, Sarah Dariano of Perrysburg, Emily (Sean) Cronin of Barboursville, W. Va., Sgt. Andrew Heater, U.S. Army, of Savannah, Ga., Adam Heater of Seattle, Wash., and Lindsay Snyder of Tiffin; three great-granddaughters, Ella and Eva Dariano and Grace Cronin; one great niece, Nikki (Dan) Reineke, of Tiffin; and dear friends, Kim and Glenn Orwig of Tiffin.
Private burial was in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the United Veteran’s Council.
