Joseph C. Wank, age 75, of New Riegel, Ohio died at 12:26 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2005 at his residence. He was born in New Riegel, on February 4, 1930 to the late Ernest and Helen (Schetter) Wank. On May 7, 1955 in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, Ohio he married Beatrice Frankart. She survives.
Other survivors include his 6 sons and 6 daughters, Patricia (Paul) Hohman and Marlene (Carl) Hohman both of Tiffin; Debra (Dwight) Brickner of Fostoria; James Wank of Lakewood; Joseph (Lisa) Wank of Woodville; Darlene (Bill) Wertz; Carol Wank; Robert (Diane) Wank, Michael (Becky) Wank, John (Shelley) Wank; Richard Wank and Barbara (Geoff) Lescallett all from New Riegel; 18 grandsons and 18 granddaughters; and 1 sister, Mary Weatherholt of Tiffin. A sister, Ernestine Gies and a brother, Paul Wank, are also deceased.
Mr. Wank was a member of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the All Saints Parish Church and the New Riegel American Legion.
Mr. Wank had retired from American Standard in 1988. He enjoyed playing cards, spending time with his family, listening to polka music, gardening and the Detroit Tigers.
Even though Joe faced several serious health issues in the past four months, he responded with a wonderful sense of humor, strength and courage.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 pm, today, Friday, December 2, 2005, at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 3, 2005, at All Saints Parish, New Riegel Ohio, with Rev. Ron Schock officiating.
Burial will be immediately following the Mass in the St. Boniface Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the New Riegel American Legion.
Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice, in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
