John Frederick Monnett, 66, of Gail Lane, Tiffin, Ohio died at 6:35 pm Tuesday, August 22, 2006 in St. Vincent-Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio. He was born on December 5, 1939 in Hyndman, Pennsylvania to the late Jeremiah and Martha Ellen (Chaney) Monnett. In 1974 he married Judy Kilburn. She died on August 16, 2001.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Kim Gase and Johna Smith both of Tiffin; 4 grandchildren, Trey, Jessie and Travis Gase, and Cain Smith; 1 brother, Melvin Monnett of Baltimore, Maryland; and 1 sister, Dorothy Glessner, of Myersdale, Pennsylvania.
He is preceded in death by 7 brothers, Joe, Norman, Bill, Edward, Frank, Harold, and Robert Monnett; and 3 sisters, Evelyn Coughenour, Helen Caton and Ann Glessner.
Mr. Monnett had served in the United States Army. He had retired from Ameriwood and was formerly employed at Ex-Cell-O Wire Company. He attended the Bible Baptist Church.
The Funeral Service will be officiated by Rev. Jacob Yeager at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 26, 2006 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Friday, August 25, 2006. Burial will follow immediately in Seneca Memory Gardens. The United Veterans Council of Seneca County will perform military rites at the gravesite.
