John F. (Frank) Unterwagner died on April 12, 2001 at Elmwood at the Shawan in Tiffin, Ohio. He formerly lived on Circular Street in Tiffin and at St. Catherine's of Fostoria, Ohio. He was born July 23, 1908 in Galion, Ohio to John and Anna (Dorian) Unterwagner. He married Gertrude A. Keller on February 8, 1930 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiffin. She died on December 23, 1992. He is survived by 1 daughter, Mrs. Gilbert (Marie) Lucius of Tiffin and 1 granddaughter, Debra Lucius of Tiffin, and a half brother, Ray Unterwagner of Galion, Ohio. He is preceded by 1
step brother and 1 step sister.
Mr. Unterwagner was raised at St. Francis Orphanage in Tiffin. He retired from National Machinery in 1970 where he worked for 30 years as a machinist. Prior to that, he worked for Zay's Chevorlet as a mechanic. Mr. Unterwagner was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, he had attended Heidelberg College, and he was a member of National Machinery's Quarter Century Club.
At 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, there will be a Quarter Century Club Service. There will be no visitiion on Sunday. Burial will take place immediately following the Funeral Mass on Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Contributions may be made to American Heart Association, Alzheimers Foundation, or to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
