John Michael "Jake" Sauber, 74, of Bascom, died 11:42 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 113, 2014, at Mercy Tiffin Hospital Emergency Room. He was born Feb. 2, 1940, in Tiffin, to Albert Jacob and Marguerite (Kirchner) Sauber. He married Mary Schalk Sept. 30, 1961 in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bascom, and she survives.
Other survivors include, two sons, Barry (Lori) Sauber of Findlay; Eric (Kimberly) Sauber of Sylvania; two daughters, Jacqueline (Gary) Yambert of Fremont; Nanette (Nan) Sauber of Marblehead; four grandchildren, Braden, Olivia, Leah and Evan; three brothers, Albert and Henry (Janet) Sauber both of Tiffin; Joseph (Ann) Sauber of Cincinnati; two sisters, Patricia Winkler of Tiffin; Marilyn (Dennis) Heiser, of Attica; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by a brother, Richard Sauber and a sister, Barbara Drown.
Jake was a 1959 Calvert High School graduate. He retired from General Electric as a caster. He had also been a bus driver, teacher's aide, and grounds keeper at Hopewell-Loudon Schools.
He was a member of the Moose, Eagles, and Amvets.
Visitation with family and friends will be 3-5 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday, Nov 16, 2014 at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. A wake service will be at 2:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2014 at the funeral home followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Entombment will take place immediately following in Seneca Memory Gardens Mausoleum. The rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church.
