John A. Brickner, 86, of Tiffin, died 12:37 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2021, at St. Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center, Toledo.
He was born September 5, 1934, in Tiffin to Bernard and Emma Rose (Miller) Brickner. He never married.
Surviving are two brothers, Alfred A. (Ruth) Brickner of Fostoria and Harold B. (Linda) Brickner of Tiffin, and two sisters, Dolores (Fred) Ialacci of Cleveland and Marie King of Findlay; many nieces and nephews.
John was a 1952 Jackson-Liberty High School graduate. He served in the United States Army Reserves. He was a self-employed mechanic and farmer for his entire life. A former member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus,(K of C) Coon Hunters, Eagles, Seneca County Fair Board. He was an avid bowler and a sponsor of various sports teams with TCC Y. He also refereed CYO games for many years. He also dug graves for 60 years at St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery. He was inducted into the K of C International Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2008. He enjoyed time at his place on Lake Erie.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin. The funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. with Rev. Matthew Rader officiating. The Rosary will be recited 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will take place at St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery.
