Joanne Dorothy Warnement, 95, of Tiffin, died at 8:50 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2015, at her residence.
She was born October 11, 1919, in Watseka, Ill., to Wilferd V. and Mary C. (Schwartz) Goetz. She married Justin E. "Gus" Warnement July 27, 1946, in St. Joseph Catholic Church. He died November 23, 1976.
Survivors include three sons, John Warnement of Milford Center, Jeffrey (Rebecca) Warnement of Columbus, and James (Nancy) Warnement of Tiffin; three daughters, Jane McAdow of Logan, Judith Warnement of Boston, Mass., and Jill (Gary) Cook of Tiffin; 12 grandchildren; a brother, Albert Goetz of Seattle, Wash.; and a sister, Norma Vesey of Boulder, Colo.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Rev. Charles Goetz, Robert and Ralph Goetz, and a sister, Betty Crawley.
Mrs. Warnement was a 1938 graduate of Old Fort High School and also graduated from the St. Alexis School of Nursing in Cleveland. She served in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and later worked as a registered nurse, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She volunteered at Mercy Hospital, Red Cross, and Mobile Meals.
Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2015 at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. Kishore Kottana, Rev. Dan Ring and Rev. Frank Murd officiating. The Rosary will be recited in church 20 minutes prior to Mass, and burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the United Veterans Council of Seneca County. Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at the church.
