Joan G. Gray, 92, of Tiffin, died at 12:30 am Saturday, January 1, 2022, at The Willows at Tiffin.
She was born September 19, 1929, in Akron, Ohio, to Arthur and Violet (Forinash) Goodwin. She met Robert N. Gray, the love of her life, on Christmas morning, and they married July 7, 1950, in Akron. Bob died May 23, 2020.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen (Frank) Michniak of Tiffin, and Kim (Charles) Baer of Fairhope, Alabama; four grandchildren, Kay (Eric) Schleter of Tiffin, Chuck (Hilary) Baer of Vancouver, Wash., Kevin Baer of Panama City, Fla., and Gwenllian (Thomas Lee) Baer of Atlanta, Ga.; three great granddaughters, Eleanor Baer, Matilda Baer, and Ellie Schleter; and one great grandson, Charlie Baer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Hea Lynn Gray, and her brother, Charles Goodwin.
Mrs. Gray was a 1947 graduate of Akron South High School. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Church of Christ.
Joan loved spending summers in Picking, West Virginia with her grandparents. She volunteered at her church with Bob, and also at the Betty Jane Center and Oconee Hospital in Seneca, SC. She loved traveling, sewing, knitting, rug making, painting, Bingo, and playing bridge and board games with family.
While her husband Bob was in the Navy they moved from coast to coast, eventually settling in Tiffin in 1961, while Bob worked for National Machinery. In 1973 they were transferred to Connecticut. They retired to Salem and then to Seneca, SC. They returned to Tiffin to be near family in 2012.
Visitation will be 3 pm until 4:30 pm, with services at 4:30 pm Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Trinity United Church of Christ, with Rev. Mark Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Akron.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association.
