Jerome J. Brickner, 91 of Tiffin, died at 9:45 am, Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Ruffing Family Care Center, Tiffin.
Jerome was born January 10, 1921 to Joseph L. and Rose Agatha (Scherger) Brickner in Hopewell Township. He married Mabel E. Williams February 1, 1947 in St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel and she preceded him in death on June 23, 2011.
Survivors include; two sons, Michael A. Brickner of Tiffin and George J. (Ann) Brickner of Findlay; two granddaughters, Jennifer (Nowell) York and Michelle Brickner; two great-granddaughters, Samantha and Sophia York; three brothers Joseph (Joanne) Brickner of Tiffin, John (Louisa) Brickner of Tiffin, Albert (Dolores) Brickner of Tampa, Fla.; and three sisters, Mary A. Hassanein of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Sr. Mary Quintin, SND, of Toledo, and Therese (Paul) Streacker of Findlay.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers, Louis and Mark Brickner, and one sister, Catherine LaFountaine.
Jerome attended St. Mary and St. Wendelin Catholic Schools, he then entered the United States Army during World War II, where he was part of a 14 man crew operating anti-aircraft weapons. He retired in 1978 after 30 years as a kiln loader and unloader from Bendix-Autolite in Fostoria. Jerome was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin.
Visitation will be Monday, January 14, 2013, from 8:30 to 9:30 am, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419)447-3113.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 am Monday at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 10 am, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. Michael Roemmele officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the United Veterans Council. The Rosary will be recited in Church 20 minutes prior to Mass.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
