James Carl Goetz, age 81, of St. Francis Ave., Tiffin, died at 9 pm Monday, December 20, 2010, at St. Francis Home.
He was born April 9, 1929, in Tiffin, to the late Carl Jack and Alma Margaret (Fox) Goetz.
Survivors include a brother, Carl Henry (Dolores) Goetz of Bradenton, Fla., and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Elchert, a brother, Thomas Goetz, a brother-in-law, Bernard Elchert, a sister-in-law, Ann Goetz, and a step mother, Lois Goetz.
Mr. Goetz was a 1947 graduate of Calvert High School and served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a distribution planner for American Electric Power/Ohio Power Company. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was organist for 45 years. He also was a member of the Third and Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, the Serra Club and the American Guild of Organists.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 South Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. The Fourth Degree Honor Guard will stand guard from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by a Parish Wake Service at 8 p.m.
Prayers will be said at 9:30, Monday, December 27, 2010 at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Reverands Joseph Szybka, James Peiffer, and Robert De Sloover con-celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited in church 20 minutes prior to Mass.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Church Organ Fund, Heartland Hospice, or Calvert Catholic Schools in care of Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory.
