James Ray Wise, 76, of Tiffin, died 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at Mercy Health-Tiffin Hospital Emergency Room. He was born Aug. 20, 1941, in Tiffin to Ray A. and Helen (Walton) Wise. He married Janet Fretz, Jan. 20, 1962, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin and she survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Steve (Deb) Wise of Republic, Mike (Margaret) Wise, Ron (Sue) Wise, and Tim (Tina Elchert) Wise, all of Tiffin; eight grandchildren, Amanda (Cory) Menke, Eric Wise, Derek (Stacy) Wise, Brooke (Gus Baldosser) Wise, Cody Wise, Mitch Wise, Madison Wise, and Olivia Wise; three great-grandchildren, Teague, Murphy and Lorelai Menke; a brother, Paul (Kathy) Wise, and a sister, Deb (Denny) Clouse both of Tiffin.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ray and Helen Wise.
Jim was a 1961 graduate of Hopewell Loudon School. He had been a machinist at General Electric for 23 years, worked security at Tiffin Developmental Center for 19 years, and he was a Seneca County Special Deputy for 44 years, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and he was on the Zoning Board for Clinton Township. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a love for gardening, woodworking, and trips to the Ohio Amish country. He was an avid Ohio State and Cleveland Indians fan.
Visitation for family and friends will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, 2018, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St. Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. A wake service will be conducted at 8 p.m.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at the funeral home followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph Szybka will officiate. The rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will take place immediately following in Seneca Memory Gardens.
