James L. Paddock, 74, of Tiffin, died at 9:38 am Monday, April 17, 2017, at his residence.
He was born August 10, 1942, in Hamtramck, Mich., to Arthur and Nellie (Burke) Paddock. He married Carolyn Myers April 30, 1971, in St. Mary Catholic Church, and she survives.
Also surviving are a son, Andrew Paddock of Columbus; a grandson, Ethan Renze of Columbus; two brothers, Doug Huss of Gahanna, and Gary Huss of Powell; and three sisters, Mary Louise “Mitzi” Schneider, Carol Distel, and Dorothy Steinmetz, all of Tiffin.
Mr. Paddock was a 1960 graduate of Calvert High School and served in the US Navy. He retired from Norfolk-Southern Railroad and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was also a life member of the VFW.
Jim never met a stranger and was a friend to all. He loved all animals but especially his two cats Stimpy and Spooky. Anyone who knew Jim well, was sure to have heard an inappropriate joke from time to time - he loved to make people smile and laugh. He was a digger in the dirt and you could almost always find him in the yard, working on one of his "projects" when the weather was nice. He was an idea man always ready with a suggestion for something to build or work on around the house. We are sure he has already started making improvements in Heaven.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 pm Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at the Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-3113. A Wake Service will be 4:30 pm Wednesday.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 am Thursday, April 20, 2017, at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 10 am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the United Veterans Council of Seneca County. The Rosary will be recited in church 20 minutes prior to the Mass.
