Irene (Rinker) Woods

(Alice) Irene Woods, 92, of Tiffin died at 12:31 p.m. Wednesday, July, 4, 2018, at Mercy Health Tiffin Hospital.  She was born  to Mervin and Alice (Cowger) Rinker and she was raised by her foster parents, Daniel and Sara Weller.  She married Charles R. Woods, July 29, 1954 in Trinity United Church of Christ, Tiffin.  He died April 29, 2002.

Irene is survived by a daughter, Debbie (Kenny) Hopkins of London, Ohio; a grandson, Richard L. Studebaker, Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, foster parents, Dan and Sara Weller; six brothers, William Rinker, Minor Rinker, Lester Rinker, Roy Rinker, Melvin Rinker and Walter Weller; three sisters, Evelyn Price, Edith Junkins, and Nellie Clady, and three foster siblings.

Irene was a 1944 Thompson High School graduate and had attended Heidelberg and Tiffin University.  She had been employed with H. & R. Block for 27 years; was a former owner of Woods Typewriter, Tiffin; an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ.  She was an avid antique collector.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2018, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. all at Trinity U.C.C.  Rev. Kurt Schaller Blaufuss will officiate.  Burial will take place in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Seneca County Humane Society or to Bridge Hospice.

The family would like to thank the staff at Elmwood, Bridge Hospice and Mercy Hospital nursing staff for their kindness and care to Irene.
