Herman Jay Valentine, age 59, of South County Road 591, Tiffin, died at 3:02 P.M., Sunday, September 19, 2010 at the University Of Toledo Medical Center.
Herman was born to Raymond and Jane (Eschenbrenner) Valentine, August 15, 1951 in Tiffin. His mother is deceased, and his father survives in Tiffin. He married Jean Therese Frankart, November 4, 1972 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Bascom, and she survives in Tiffin.
Other survivors include two daughters, Jill (Steve) Fox of E. Greenville, Pa., and Meghan (Jason) Seem of Findlay; four grandchildren, Abigaile and Ava Fox, Kyle and Katelyn Seem; two sisters, Darlene (John) Valentine-Lockard of Pemberville and Tammy (Michael) Valentine-Bauman of Scottsdale, Ariz.
Herman was a 1969 Hopewell Loudon High School graduate and attended Tiffin University for two years from 1971 -1972. He retired as Head of Maintenance from Hopewell Loudon School after 27 years and was a life long farmer. Herman was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Bascom; Seneca County Antique Machinery. He was President of Bascom Lions Club, served on the Bascom Elevator Board, and was employed with Zoeller Lawn Service and Plowing. He was an avid collector of John Deere equipment, large and small.
The funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 24, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin with Rev. Art Newiadomski officiating. The Rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Private burial will be in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Bascom.
There will be no visitation per Herman’s request, but a luncheon for family, friends and community will follow the Mass, at Meadowbrook Park, Evergreen Building.
