Henrietta M. Smyser, 93, formerly of CR 50, Tiffin died at 5:30am Monday, November 26, 2007 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center. She was born on September 9, 1914 in Tiffin to the late Arthur J. and Cora (Shultz) Distel. On October 22, 1938 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, she married Paul A. Smyser, Sr. and he died on September 4, 1994.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane (Mike) Miller of Tiffin; three sons, Gerry (Marie) Smyser of Lewisburg, NC, Paul (Debra A.) Smyser, Jr. of Tiffin, and Thomas A. Smyser of Upper Sandusky; ten grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert of Tiffin, Jim of California, John (Butch) Distel of Tiffin; two sisters, Agnes Zeiger of Tiffin and Sr. St. Martin Distel, OSU of Toledo; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Henrietta is preceded by five brothers, Howard, Eugene, Arthur C., Richard, and Harvey Distel; two sisters, Sr. Joan of Arc, Dorothy Dickson, and her very dear, life-long friend Edie Lenner.

The oldest of 13 children, Henrietta was a 1932 Calvert High School graduate and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She worked at US Glass and then Tiffin Glass until she married. Henrietta spent her life raising her family on the farm and loved working in her flowerbeds and spending warm summer days at the cottage, boating, fishing, and playing cards with family and friends. She will be deeply missed.

The funeral Mass will be at 10am on Friday, November 30, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church and officiated by Rev. Joseph Szybka.

Family and Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. There will be a wake service at 2pm on Thursday at the funeral home. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass on Friday.

Burial will take place immediately following in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to the Ursuline Convent of the Sacred Heart, 4045 Indian Road Toledo, Ohio.
