Helen Irene Nemire, age 83, of Tiffin, Ohio, died at 3:18 pm Monday, September 6, 2010, at Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin.
She was born November 8, 1926, in Findlay, to the late Alva L. and Ima O. (Barkimer) Cain. She married Robert Ash Nemire November 28, 1947 in Findlay, and he died July 19, 1997.
Survivors include a son, Ron (Bobette) Nemire of Berlin Heights, Ohio; a daughter, Sharon Rigby of Tiffin; five grandchildren, Ben Lindhorst, and Nathan, Bryan, Lynea, and Jenelle Nemire; and three great grandchildren, Robbie, Carter, and A.J. Lindhorst; and two sisters, Doris Smith of Findlay, and Connie Crawford of Colton, Ohio.
Mrs. Nemire was a 1944 graduate of Findlay High School. She worked for the Ohio Bell Telephone Company, Krogers, and owned and operated Nemire’s Framing with her husband for 40 years.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Findlay for over 50 years. She was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, 44th Army Division, Ottawa, Ohio, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Dendarah Court #12, Toledo, Diana’s Caring Cardinals of Toledo, Findlay Ladies Shrine Club, Seneca Pak-N-Go Camping Club, and the Pinochle Card Club for over 43 years.
She was also a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and its Apple Dumpling Gang, she volunteered at the Seneca County Board of Elections, and served as a juror commissioner. Helen enjoyed being with her grandchildren, traveling, and cruising.
Visitation with the family will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 South Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419)447-3113. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home, with Rev. Nathan Howe officiating. Private burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Shriners Hospitals for children, or to Community Hospice Care, in care of the funeral home.
