Hattie D. West, 80, formerly of Kiwanis Manor, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin.
She was born December 22, 1933 in Walker County, Alabama, to John Earl and Lillie Pearl (Daniels) Gaddy. She married James D. West, March 17, 1951, in Itawamba County, Miss., and he died in 1976.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherrie Lee Everetts of Tiffin, three grandchildren, Nathaniel Buskirk, Kara Stansbery, Gabriell Everetts; four great grandchildren, Luke Stansbery, Anyanka Stansbery, Robyn Buskirk and Lily Buskirk; three brothers, Joe Gaddy of Fla., and James Gaddy, Jr., of Ala., and Darryl Gaddy of Jasper, Ala. and; two sisters, Dorothy Lee Cleghorn, and Donna Gilliland both of Ala.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, James C. West, a daughter, Tammy A. West, and six brothers, Bennie, George, Earl, James, John and Olie Gaddy; a sister, Nora Hunt; and two great grandchildren, Axel Stansbery and Damien Stansbery.
Hattie worked with her husband farming and also was a caregiver for children. She was a former member of Old Fort Baptist Church and enjoyed working outdoors, gardening, and spending time at Zimmerman Park.
There will be no visitation.
Services will be 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in the Chapel of Autumnwood Care Center, with Rev. Gary Walters officiating.
