Harvey J. Eikenbary, Jr. 81, of Fostoria and formerly of Tiffin died at 3:23 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Good shepherd Home, Fostoria. He was born to Harvey J. and Lucille A. (Davis) Eikenbary, Sr. November 23, 1929 in Tiffin.
He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Eikenbary Long, a brother-in-law, William L. Long, both of Gastonia, N.C., and a nephew William L. Long, II of Newton, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a niece, Valerie Long.
Harvey was a 1947 Tiffin Columbian High School graduate and a 1951 Heidelberg University graduate. He taught high school for 2 years in Akron. He joined the United States Air Force in 1953 and became a jet pilot serving in the Korean Conflict. Upon leaving the Air Force he worked for Delco Electronics, a division of General Motors in Kokomo, Indiana, until his retirement in 1979.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 South Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419)447-3113. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Monday, April 4, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Sampson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, with military rites by the United Veterans Council.
