Harold E. Knaup, 85, of Lindsay Ave, died at 4:45 a.m., Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin, OH. He was born January 6, 1921 in Big Springs Township, Ohio to the late Charles E. and Mary (Finkenbinder) Knaup. On January 5, 1950, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married Rita G. Yost who survives.
Other survivors include 2 sons; Charles R. Knaup and Joseph H. Knaup, both of Tiffin and 2 daughters; Phyllis A. Sleek, Risingsun,OH and Karen R. (Gary) Nye of Tiffin, 5 grandchildren, Kristy Knaup, Kathy Fredritz, Melissa Nye, Shawn Nye, & Derek Nye; 2 great-grandchildren, Clayton Dyer and Victoria Fredritz.
He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Carl and John Knaup, 1 sister, Ruth Knaup, and a granddaughter, Veronica Rose Sleek.
Mr. Knaup retired after 30 years from General Electric, Tiffin, and he also was a truck driver and grain and livestock farmer. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a life member of both Eagles and Moose. He was a member of the Seneca Antique Tractor Club, liked cowboy shirts and enjoyed country music.
The funeral Mass will be 12 noon, Friday, February 24, 2006, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial following in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm today, Thursday, at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419)447-3113. The Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass at the Church.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or the American Heart Association.
