After a long and courageous battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease, Greg Felter, age 57, of Tiffin, Ohio passed away at 7:00 am Saturday morning on June 23, 2007. He was surrounded by his family and friends in the comfort of his home.
Greg was born in Tiffin on January 14, 1950 to Wilbur J. and Margie V. (Dornbirer) Felter. He is survived by his wife Gabi Neumaier, whom he married on January 18, 1975 in Pittsford, New York., two daughters, Allegra Felter of Chicago, IL; Kate Felter of North Carolina; his mother, Marjorie Felter of Tiffin; two brothers, Mike (Sharon) Felter and Larry Felter and families both of Tiffin; and one sister, Susan (Brad) Tanner and family of Tiffin.
He is predeceased by his father, Wilbur Felter.
In his early years, Greg attended Kent State, worked on political campaigns, and traveled around the northeast as a NFO farm organizer. He returned to Seneca County to join the family farm. Greg thoroughly enjoyed farming with his family, particularly with his father Wilbur. He was extremely proud of being a self-employed man. He was involved in real estate and in the early 1990’s purchased Southside Laundry. After his diagnosis of ALS in 2003, Greg continued to be involved in agriculture.
Greg loved life or as he often put it, “breathing air.” He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Elks Lodge. He was an avid golfer, vegetable gardener, mushroom hunter, arrow head collector, angler, and fantasy football/baseball manager. Above all, Greg was happiest in the company of his family. He especially enjoyed traveling around the States and abroad.
We are relieved that Greg is finally at peace. He will forever remain in the hearts and thoughts of all of whom he had met.
The Funeral Mass will be officiated by Rev. Joseph Szybka at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 27, 2007 in St. Joseph Catholic Church. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass at the church. The Rosary will be recited 15 minute prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to Community Hospice Care, the ALS Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice in care of Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.
