Gertrude F. “Trudy” Koerner, age 87, of Bluffton, Ohio and formerly of Tiffin, died at 7:10 a.m., Friday, May 7, 2010 at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton.
Trudy was born to the late Alonzo and Elizabeth (Rust) Cochran March 29,1923 in Tiffin. On May 10, 1944 she married Carl Koerner in Springfield, Ohio and he died February 20, 2002.
Trudy is survived by a son, Alexander Koerner of Mt. Blanchard, Ohio; two daughters, Connie Koerner of Bluffton, and Teresa (Kevin) Scott of Tiffin; two grandchildren, Josh Steinmetz and Emily Krabach; two brothers, Jack David Cochran and “Bud” Eugene Cochran, both of Lakeview, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Joan Mumford.
Trudy was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of Tiffin Art Club. She was a den mother for the Boy Scouts and was also involved in Girl Scouts. She enjoyed camping, vacationing, travelling, crocheting, she loved nature and taking care of animals by taking in strays and doctoring them. She enjoyed golf, having scored a hole-in-one.
Family and friends may call from 2 to 3 pm Monday, May 10, 2010 followed by the funeral service at 3 pm, officiated by Rev. Proietti, at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 South Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, 419-447-3113. Burial for Gertrude and Carl will take place immediately following at Greenlawn Cemetery, with military rites for Carl conducted by the United Veterans Council.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice, in care of the funeral home.
