Gertrude P. Hess, age 84, formerly of South Washington Street, Tiffin, Ohio and currently of St. Francis Home, Tiffin died at 3:40 a.m., Monday, April 24, 2006 at Mercy Hospital, Tiffin. She was born February 20, 1922 in Shelby, OH to the late Frank and Olivia (Schlachter) Metzger. On April 25, 1946 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, she married Dewane G. Hess who died on July 16, 1997.
Mrs. Hess is survived by 3 sons; John (Vickie) Hess of Tiffin; Donald (Carolina) Hess of Washington MI, and Bradley (Rose) Hess of Tiffin; 1 daughter, Katrina “Tina” (John ) Ulrich of Boardman, OH; 9 Grandchildren and 5 Great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Mark Metzger of Frenchtown, OH; Jack Metzger of Toledo, OH; 6 sisters, Lucy Flechtner of Tiffin, OH; Marcia Gerber of Fremont, OH; Rita DeRose of Tiffin, OH; Theresa Schindler of Harrison, OH; Nan Hohman of Vermillion, OH; and Donna Durbin of Sandusky, OH.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Fritz and Sonny Metzger; a sister Betty Metzger; a granddaughter, Kathy Hess; and a grandson, Benjamin Hess
Mrs. Hess was a graduate of New Riegel High School. She had retired as a loan clerk at Tiffin Savings Bank. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted by Rev. Richard Dunn on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Home Chapel, Tiffin with visitation one hour prior (10-11 a.m.) to the Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
