Germaine Ann Perry, age 81, of South State Route 100, Tiffin, Ohio died at 9:35 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2009 surrounded by her entire family.

Germaine was born July 26, 1927 to the late Herman and Louise (Smith) Scherger. On October 27, 1948 she married Bearl J. Perry in St. Joseph Catholic Church of Tiffin. He died March 5, 2001.

She is survived by six sons; Douglas Perry of Sylvania, James (Jane) Perry, Mark (Monica) Perry , Roger (Jane) Perry, Jeffrey (Sharon) Perry and Anthony (Linda) Perry all of Tiffin; seven daughters, Diane (Jim) Alley, Cheryl (Jim) Caldwell both of Tiffin, Constance (Robert) Chech of Litchfield, Millie (Geoff) Davenport of South Riding, VA, Linda (Douglas) Kuhn, Ellen (James) Beckley and Karen (Stephen) Welter all of Tiffin; 50 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one brother, Rev. Herman Scherger of Cloverdale.

Germaine was preceded in death by one son, Michael Perry; an infant daughter, Mary; four brothers, Bernard, Carl, Cyril and Gerald Scherger; and two sisters, Mary Lou Huss and Zita Hohman; and a daughter-in-law, Connie Perry.

Germaine attended a one-room school; St. Andrew’s then graduated in 1945 from Jackson-Liberty High School. She previously worked as a bookkeeper for Bearl’s Sohio, then at Morris 5 and Dime, Ardner’s Restaurant, Copeland, G.E. and Riegel Provision and then retired from the Tiffin Developmental Center where she worked in housekeeping. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, the Josephine’s, the Funeral Choir, the Mother’s Club and the Charismatic Prayer Group. She also volunteered for the Tiffin Catholic School System.

Germaine enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, quilting, fishing and playing cards. She loved playing the piano and her dog Mikey. She had a deep faith and was devoted to praying the Rosary and had a great sense of humor which she passed on to her family. Germaine always put others first.

Prayers are to be said at 9:30 am Monday, March 16, 2009 at the funeral home followed by the funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph Szybka and Rev. Herman Scherger will con-celebrate. The rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial is immediately following at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2-8 pm Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 South Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio, 44883, 419-447-3113. The rosary will be recited at 1:45 p.m.

Contributions may be made to the Calvert Catholic Schools and to St. Joseph Church.
