Gerald Joseph “Jerry” Bentz, 65, of Gibson Court in Tiffin, died on Thursday, December 13, 2007 at 2:15pm at St. Catherine’s Care Center in Fostoria.
He was born on March 26, 1942 in Tiffin to Franklin and Valeria (Elchert) Bentz.
Mr. Bentz is survived by his mother, Valeria of Tiffin; his wife Sharon of Tiffin; sons Richard “Dick” Bentz and Stephen Bentz, both of Tiffin; granddaughter Brooklyn Bentz of Tiffin; brothers David Bentz and Kenneth Bentz of Tiffin; sisters Joan Kieffer of Tiffin, Mary Alice Cessna of Tiffin, and Margaret Hoover of Bascom; and a former wife Phyllis Bentz of Tiffin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Franklin Bentz, and a former wife, Sandra McCool.
Jerry was a 1960 graduate of Calvert High School and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He owned Jerry’s Barber Shop in Tiffin which he operated for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Eagles, the Amvets, and the Moose.
A funeral Mass will take place at 10:30 am on Monday, December 17, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating. The Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the funeral Mass. Burial will be immediately following at St. Joseph Cemetery in Tiffin.
Visitation is Sunday, December 16, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, at Traunero Funeral Home. There will be a Wake Service at 1:45 pm Sunday, and an Eagles Service will be at 7:45 pm Sunday, at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
