Gerald J. Reinhart, age 86, of rural Fostoria, died at 10:57 am, Saturday, February 2, 2008, at Elmwood at the Shawhan, Tiffin, surrounded by his family.
He was born May 23, 1921, in Seneca County, to the late Gorgon and Margaret (Lamberjack) Reinhart. On May 3, 1947, in New Riegel, he married Anna R. Ward, who died March 24, 2005.
Survivors include a son, Michael (Joanne) Reinhart of Tiffin; four daughters, Donna Reinhart of Findlay, Carol (Gary) Goetz of Fostoria, Marlene Reinhart of Tiffin, and Barbara (Chris) Hossler of Tiffin; eight grandchildren, Sara (Chad) Orr, Lori (Ryan) Mathia, Kerstin, Craig, & Karis Reinhart, and Cari, Ryan, & Laura Hossler; and a great-granddaughter, Andrea Orr.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lucius.
Mr. Reinhart was a World War II veteran of the US Navy, serving in the Pacific. He was a farmer, Hopewell-Loudon school bus driver, worked at Whirlpool Corporation, Clyde, and was retired from Copeland Refrigeration, Fostoria. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bascom, the New Riegel American Legion Post 354 and the Sandusky River Coon Hunters. He enjoyed playing cards, cookouts with family and friends, and had a great sense of humor.
Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Rev. Art Niewadomski officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, with military rites by the New Riegel American Legion. Friends may call Monday, February 4, from 2 to 8 pm, and from 9 to 10 am Tuesday, at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419)447-3113. There will be a Wake Service at 7:45 pm Monday at the funeral home. The Rosary will be recited in Church at 10:15 am Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Heartland Hospice, or to St. Patrick Church.
