Gerald E. (Jerry) Bouillon, 95, of Tiffin, passed away at 12:40 p.m. Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Mercy Health St. Vincent Hospital, Toledo. He was born February 28, 1923, in New Riegel to Joseph Edward and Corrine (Frankart) Bouillon. He married JoAnn F. Steinmetz, May 9, 1947, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria. They celebrated 71 years of marriage this year. JoAnn survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Ronald J. Bouillon of Tiffin, Robert A. (Diana) Bouillon of New Riegel, Raymond E.(Joyce) Bouillon of Tiffin, Richard C.(Dorothy) Bouillon of Alvada; a daughter, Patricia A.(Butch) Bish of Burgoon; 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one arriving in August; and two sisters, Doris Lortz of Carey and Mary Ellen (Carl) Hoffman of Burgoon.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Josephine Kimmet and Theresa Bouillon; six brothers, Floyd, Edmund, Brother Rene OSB, Harold, and Carl Bouillon and an infant brother.
Gerald was in the U.S. Army during W.W.II as a Sgt. Tech 4th Grade, from 1943 – 1945. He retired in 1990 after 35 years as an assembler at National Machinery Company. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a life member of New Riegel American Legion, the V.F.W., Disabled American Veterans, Seneca County Farm Bureau and the Moose Lodge 872. He loved his family, playing cards and watching baseball.
Visitation for family and friends will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St. Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. A wake service will be at 3:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9:30 – 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2018, followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph Szybka will officiate. The rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery where the United Veteran’s Council will perform military rites at the gravesite.
