Georgetta Ann Hursey, 89, of Tiffin, died at 3:55 am Saturday, February 4, 2017, at her residence.
She was born February 22, 1927, in Seneca County, to Robert and Cecelia (Kroeckel) LaFountaine. She married Joseph J. Zoeller in 1948, and he died October 31, 1965. She married Loren R. Hursey, May 21, 1966, and he died January 1, 1997.
Survivors include a son, Carl P. Zoeller of Tiffin; a daughter, Sharon A. Straub of Tiffin; two great-grandchildren, Robbie and Alex Boehler of Findlay; and a sister, Marianne Zoeller of New Riegel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, a son, Michael Zoeller in 2007, a granddaughter, Elisha Straub Boehler in 2010; seven brothers, Charles, John, Clarence, Peter, Paul, Joseph, and Franklin LaFountaine; and five sisters, Lucinda, Gertrude, Agnes, Isabella and Rosa.
Mrs. Hursey attended New Riegel Schools and retired in 1990, from Mercy Hospital Linen Department after 33 years of service. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the VFW Auxiliary, Eagles Auxiliary, and the Moose.
Georgetta was the youngest of 14 siblings. She was never able to finish her high school education, but that never held her back. At age 17, she went to work at the Wire Mill on the Victory shift. She raised 3 children, whom she loved dearly. She loved baking especially her cut out sugar cookies. She also hand-made many afghans and quilts and even won awards for some. She delighted in traveling on bus adventures and casinos trips Her favorite shows included the O.S.U. football, golf (even though she not been to any tournament) The Voice and any cooking show, and her favorite “Blue Blood” (which she watched with her son, Carl the night before her passing. She always put her family first and stated, “Never wish anything bad on another person.”
Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-3113.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at the funeral home. The burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
