George Frederick Houck, 89, of 378 Sycamore St., Tiffin, Ohio, died at 4:32 am, Sunday, December 5, 2004, at Mercy Hospital of Tiffin. He was born May 24, 1915, in Tiffin, to the late Austin and Armena Houck. On June 6, 1938, he married Rosella Blum in Norwalk, Ohio. She died November 24, 1983. On June 22, 1985, he married Frances I. Gase. She died August 26, 1997.
Surviving are three sons, G. James "Sugar Bear" (Rosemary) Houck, Ronald Houck, and Paul G. (Greta) Houck, all of Tiffin; two daughters, Marjorie (Eldon) Kimmet of Prospect, OH, and Mary (Thomas) Younkin of Fostoria, Ohio; six step-sons, Edgar Gase of San Antonio, TX, Charles Gase of Toledo, OH, Kenneth Gase of Holland, MI, Lester & Richard Gase, both of Tiffin, and Leon Gase of Columbus, OH; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Houck of Tiffin. He was preceded in death by a son, Alan John Houck, a brother, Philbert Houck, and four sisters, Laura Rospert, Emma Leahy, Betty Schumm, & Alice Houck.
Mr. Houck retired from I.T.T./Sterling Abrasive Products, Tiffin, after 37 years as a finisher. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, the Knights of Columbus, the Tiffin Eagles, and the U.C.T. He enjoyed playing guitar, gardening, and waving to those who passed by his home.
Rev. Michael Dandurand will celebrate the Funeral Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Tiffin. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospital of Tiffin, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
