George A. Fretz, Sr., age 93 years, of Autumnwood Drive, Tiffin, Ohio died at 1:35 am Saturday, October 6, 2007 in St. Vincent-Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, Ohio.
He was born on July 6, 1914 in Seneca County, Ohio to the late John and Margaret (Baker) Fretz. On February 18, 1939 in St. Joseph Catholic Church Rectory, he married Edna Hess and she survives.
Other survivors include, three sons, George A. (Kayleen) Fretz, Jr.; Thomas (Barbara) Fretz Sr.; Richard (Sue) Fretz; and a daughter, Janet (James) Wise all of Tiffin. 16 grandchildren, Cindy (Jack Kinser) Abbott, George A. (Deb) “Skip” Fretz, III, Cathy Smith, John Fretz, Chris(Marissa) Fretz, Joseph (Laurie) Fretz, Terri Fretz, Steve (Deb) Wise, Mike (Margaret) Wise, Ron (Sue) Wise, Tim (Tina Elchert) Wise, Thomas ( Amy J.) Fretz, Jr., Amy S. Fretz, Ryan Fretz, Anna Fretz, and Gregory Fretz; and 19 great grandchildren.
Mr. Fretz is preceded in death by a grandson, Jeff Fretz; a brother, Russell Fretz, and three sisters, Inez Frankenfield, Mabel Kissling, and Helen Baker.
George had retired after 40 years of truck driving for Sentle Trucking Company. After he retired he returned back to farming. He was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
The Funeral will be officiated by Rev. Joseph Szybka at 10:00 am Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. Burial will take place immediately following in Seneca Memory Gardens.
Family and Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Monday, October 8, 2007 at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Calvert Catholic Schools, Muscular Dystrophy Association or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
