George E. Persinger

George E. Persinger, 89, of Tiffin, died at 11:14 pm Friday, March 23, 2018, at his residence.

He was born July 10, 1928, in Marion, Ohio, to Claude and Maude (McKim) Persinger.  He married Agnes "Ann" Crist April 26, 1958, in Tiffin, and she survives.

Also surviving are five sons, George Randal Persinger of Tiffin, Chris Persinger of Tiffin, Tim (Deborah) Persinger of McCutchenville, Martin (Sharon Martin) Persinger of Bellevue, and Denny (Jenny)  Persinger of Tiffin; three daughters, Judy (Tony) Kuebler of Tiffin, Shelly Cole-Monley of Farmdale, Ohio, and Jennifer (Mark) Elchert of Tiffin; 30 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren; two brothers, William Persinger of Larue, and Thomas Persinger of Marion; and two sisters, Dorothy Persinger Hughes, and Shirley Persinger Scheitler, both of Marion.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Claude Persinger, Jr., and Richard Persinger; and four sisters, Geneva Manring, Betty Arndt, Miriam Reed, and Barbara Morgan.

Mr. Persinger served in the US Army during World War II as a switchboard operator and paratrooper in Japan.  He was the owner of Universal Building Restoration for 57 years and a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.  He was a volunteer swim coach at the YMCA from 1967 to 1978.

Visitation will be 2 to 6 pm Friday, March 30, 2018, with funeral services at 6 pm, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio  44883 (419)447-3113.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care, Alzheimer's Association, or F.A.C.T.
