FRANKLYN LLOYD "SPUD" AMBROSE

Franklyn Lloyd "Spud" Ambrose, age 79, of Tiffin, Ohio, died October 24, 2003, at his residence. He was born February 11, 1924, in Tiffin, to Albert and Hazel (McDonald) Ambrose. On April 11, 1946, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, he married Sara Paradiso, and she survives. Also surviving are 4 sons, Frank (Janet) Ambrose, Michael (Elizabeth) Ambrose, Thomas (Jackie) Ambrose, and Daniel (Patti) Ambrose; a daughter, Patricia Ambrose; eleven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Ambrose, a sister, Betty Spicer, and a daughter, Donna Marie Ambrose.
Mr. Ambrose retired as a Chief after 22 years in the U.S. Navy, and then worked 17 years as a welder at National Machinery Company, Tiffin. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, a life member of the VFW Post 2858 and the Military Order of Cooties, of Tiffin. He was also a member of the Naval Fleet Reserves. He was a 1941 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School.

Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, with military rites by the United Veterans Council. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Church, for Masses, or to Heartland Hospice.
