Fern I. (Slingwine) Kinn

Fern I. (Slingwine) Kinn, 87, of Alvada, died Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at her residence.  She was born July 20, 1936, to Albert and Vivian (Dendinger) Slingwine.   She married Jim Kinn, September 27, 1958, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Republic, Ohio, and he survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Judy (Gary) Smith; a son, Gary Kinn, both of Alvada; a grandson, Randy Smith of New Riegel and a granddaughter, Stacy (Christopher) Gillig of Alvada; three beautiful great-granddaughters, Jade, Adrie, and Kylar Gillig; a brother, Ray (Sandy) Slingwine of Green Springs; two sisters, Ireta Martin, and Mary Jane Covert, both of Tiffin; a sister-in-law, Kate Slingwine of Green Springs; and many nieces and nephews. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Richard; a sister, Grace Bishop; and an infant sister, Helen; three brothers-in-law, Bill Martin, Joe Bishop, and Bob Covert.

Fern was a 1956 graduate of Thompson High School.  She was a homemaker and owner of Kinn Homes and Kinn Curl Beauty Shop.  She was a member of All Saints Parish, the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary member.   She was a collector of Murano Millefiori glassware. She enjoyed shopping trips with her daughter, baking pies, polka dancing, and quilting with her best friend, Rosie Wagner.  She loved attending auctions.

Visitation for family and friends will be 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at TRAUNERO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.  Visitation will also be 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.  Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at All Saints Parish, New Riegel.

The funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will take place immediately following the Mass in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, New Riegel.
