Evelyn M. Ward, 78, of 46 Elmwood Street, Tiffin, died at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2003, in the Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin.
She was born August 4, 1924, in Fostoria, to the late Asa and Carrie (Povenmire) Daugherty. She first married Charles Payne on March 25, 1943. He died on November 20, 1946. She then married Herman Ward on November 29, 1947, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church in Fostoria. He survives in Tiffin.
Other survivors include: two sons, Charles (Mary Ann) Payne of Tiffin and Richard (Shirley) Ward of Fostoria; four daughters, Shirley J. Aichholz of New Washington, Peg (Jerry) Baker of Tiffin, and Pat (Steve) Shilling and Cindy Frantz, both of Vanlue; 13 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren; three brothers, Asa Daugherty, Jr. of Fostoria, Everett Daugherty of Austin, Texas, and Robert Daugherty of Bowling Green.
Preceding her in death were a son-in-law, Harry Aichholz; great granddaughter, Devin Shilling; two brothers, Roy and Richard Daugherty; and two sisters, Mildred Shultz and Helen Gaertner.
A homemaker, Mrs. Ward was a Fostoria High School graduate. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin and its Rosary Altar Society. She was also an avid Western sqaure dancer and an avid bingo and card player.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Funeral Mass at the church. A Wake Service will be at 3:45 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, the Diabetes Foundation, or the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
