Evelyn Rose Cooley, 84, of Tiffin, died at 8:50 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020, at Volunteers of America Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin.
She was born July 31, 1935 in Tiffin to Blasius and Amanda (Daniel) Schock. She married Raymond “Buzz” Cooley January 24, 1953 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. He died July 28, 2002.
Survivors include a son, Dean (Frieda) Cooley of Tiffin; four daughters, Debra (Rudolph) Reddish of Marblehead, Ohio, Deanna (Gary) White, Denise (Brad) Arnold and Danette Kopp all of Tiffin; and 15 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. And of course her faithful companion, her dog, Bailey.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, Michael Cooley, son-in-law, Gary White, and a great grandson, Luke Ervin Seitz.
Evelyn attended Calvert High School. She worked at Paul & Dick’s Supermarket and the Tiffin Bake Shop. She and her husband at one time owned and operated Cooley’s Dairy Isle. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Rosary Altar Society, and was a Eucharistic Minister for many years. She also belonged to the V.F.W. Auxiliary 2858 where she served twice as President. She enjoyed girl’s night out with the 1953 Calvert graduates, and Friday night dinner with friends. Evelyn loved to travel which included Hawaii, the New England States, Florida, Branson, MIssouri, and Colorado. She also loved playing cards and was a member of several card clubs over the years and spending time with her family.
Visitation for family and friends will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. A wake service will be at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2020, at the funeral home followed by the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Rev. Joseph Szybka will officiate. The rosary will be recited at the church 20 minutes prior to the funeral. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Community Hospice Care by Stein, the Alzheimer’s Association, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
