Eugene R. “Gene” Kimmet, age 75, of N. SR 101, Tiffin, Ohio, died Monday, September 27, 2010.
Gene was born to the late Oliver M. and Evelyn R. (Kuhn) Kimmet, February 12, 1935 in Fostoria. He married Carol Niedermier October 9, 1959 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, New Washington and she survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Vicki L. Kimmet of Sycamore; a grandson, Britton Kimmet; and a brother, Donald Kimmet of Tiffin.
Gene was a 1954 St. Wendelin High School graduate afterwards he served in the National Guard. He worked as a security officer for over 25 years at both Tiffin Developmental Center and Kirby Recycling Center. He also installed carpet for 25 years. He loved delivering medical supplies for I.C.P. and working with those employed there. Gene was a small business owner of two Drive-Thrus named The Thunderbird in Findlay. He delivered fish to people in the community and volunteered his time transporting people to medical appointments. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and a supporter and fan of Calvert wrestling.
His hobbies included raising exotic birds, building birdhouses and placing them in conservation areas. He reaped a large fruitful garden and provided for many.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Traunero Funeral Home 214. S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. A wake service will be at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday, October 1, at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. Gary Walters officiating. The Rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will take place immediately following in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
