Eugene A. Lutes, 64, of North State Route 101, died at 6:29 pm, Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at the Mercy Hospital Emergency Room Tiffin, Ohio.
Gene was born February 7, 1944 in Tecumseh, Michigan to the late James Arthur and Louise C. (Ulman) Lutes. His mother later became Louise Reinhart. On April 5, 1991, he married Sharon Zimmerman in Tiffin, and she survives.
Other survivors include; two daughters, Pamela (Patrick) Therriault, and Lori Lutes, both of Tiffin; a step-son, Kenneth (Sheila) Stuckey of Kansas, Ohio; five grandchildren, Mitch and Marrisa Therriault, Bradley and Brandon Stuckey, Brittany (Jeff) Sawinski; and a sister, Marie (Jack) Humphreys of Lakeland, FL.
Gene was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lutes and a sister, Diane Miller.
In 1962, Gene graduated from New Riegel High School. He was the former owner of Lutes Glass Service and Tiffin Soft Water Service. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin and the Chapter S Motorcycle Club.
He enjoyed motorcycling, dirt biking and bicycling. He also loved the outdoors, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was skillful with his hands and always willing to help out. Gene was a School of Opportunity Board Member and a former Mayor of New Riegel.
The Funeral Mass will be officiated by the Rev. Randy Giesige at All Saints Parish, New Riegel, at 10:00 am, on Monday, October 6, 2008. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will be immediately following at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, Sunday, October 5, 2008 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 South Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-3113. A Wake Service will be held at 3:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the Special Olympics and to the Chapter S Motorcycle Club in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
