Eugene J. Werling

Eugene J. Werling, 81, of Tiffin, died at 8:04 pm Sunday, May 13, 2018 at Promedica Fostoria Hospital emergency room.

Eugene was born May 29, 1936 in Tiffin to Edward and Leona (Fredritz) Werling. He married Marilyn M. Bish on October 29, 1955 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, and she died March 11, 2003.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas E. (Beverlye Horton) Werling, of Fort Worth, Texas; Gary J. (Lisa) Werling of Perrysburg, Ohio; and a daughter, Cynthia A. (Vincent) Kirchner of Tiffin; seven grandchildren, Erica Horman, Sheena Barthold, Micah Kirchner, Sean Kirchner, Joel Kirchner, Alex Szablewski, and Michael Werling; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rita Myrann of Phoenix, Arizona, Reginia Gassner of Tiffin; a brother-in-law Mike Reimer; and his very special friend with whom he shared the last few years, Sue Stephens.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, James, Paul, Edward, Gerald and Robert Werling; four sisters, Madelyn Kiesel, Joyce Mortimer, Mary Ann Kern, Donna Reimer.

He attended Calvert High School and retired from Atlas Crankshaft, Fostoria after 29 years as a machinist.  He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed golfing, bowling, boating, dancing and playing cards.

Visitation for family and friends will be 4:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, May 18, 2018, at the Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-3113.

Prayers will be said at 9:30 am, Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Joseph Szybka officiating. Burial will follow in Seneca Memory Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Calvert High School, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
