Eileen Marie DeBarbrie, 83, of Tiffin died at 10 a.m. Monday, May 15, 2017, at Mercy Health-Tiffin Hospital, Tiffin. She was born April 19, 1934, in Tiffin to Charles and Marie (Steinmetz) Wise. She married John Paul DeBarbrie, January 25, 1956, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, and he survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Steven (Sue) DeBarbrie of Seattle, Washington, Chris (Li Deng) DeBarbrie of Columbus, Mark (Barb) DeBarbrie of Tiffin; seven grandchildren, Lauren (Paul) Ouraga, Michael (Larissa) DeBarbrie, Joy (Joe) Lanham, Jon DeBarbrie, Ryan DeBarbrie, Corey DeBarbrie, Collin DeBarbrie; six brothers, Tom (Donna) Wise of Tiffin, Jim (Doris) Wise of Tiffin, John (Linda) Wise of Bloomville, Jerry (Linda) Wise of Tiffin, Don (Patsy) Wise of Tiffin, Bob (Linda) Wise of Findlay; and a sister, Patricia (Dan) Burks of Sycamore.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Eileen was a 1952 Calvert High School graduate. In the 1950's Eileen managed DeBarbrie's variety store on the corner of Miami and South Sandusky St. She was a pianist and musician for 70 years. Her musical entertainment included playing with her father in his bands, seasonal parties at local nursing care facilities as well as the St. Mary's festival. She played and managed the "Unique's" a popular band for 17 years. She was an officer for the Musicians Union, Local 121, and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She was a caregiver of many elderly people.
Family and friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe St. Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 19, 2017, at the funeral home. The funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. officiated by Rev. Gary Walters at St. Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass.
