Our beloved father, Edmund P. Schreiner, age 88, of New Riegel, died at 6:55 pm Saturday, August 28, 2010, at Mercy-St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo.

Born to Frank and Mary (Elchert) Schreiner on May 15, 1922, in New Riegel, he later married Thelma Youngpeter in St. Nicholas Catholic Church, Frenchtown, on November 29, 1946. She preceded him in death November 3, 1986.

Edmund enjoyed a full life and was loved by all of his children, who are: Mary Jane (Mick) Geesey of Van Wert, Paul (Cindy) Schreiner of Findlay, Sharon (Mike) Reed of Van Wert, Michael Schreiner who is deceased, Denise (Scot) Douglas of Findlay, Sandy Schreiner of Tiffin, and Larry Schreiner of New Riegel. A sister, Clarene Gase, survives in Monclova, Ohio. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Jackie (Dr. Greg) Gerber, Jeannette (Dr. David) Richards, Andy (Jennifer) Schreiner, Brian (Teresa) Mercer, Marcia (Todd) Miller, and Danyelle Mercer. Also surviving are nine great granchildren.

Preceding him in death were a son, Michael, a grandson, William Schreiner, three brothers, Wilford, Earl, and Marion Schreiner, and a sister, Genevieve Schreiner.

His passion was farming which was his occupation for most of his life. He found great enjoyment in the past several years working with his son Larry on the farm and also traveling to the Amish country several days a week. He did this all the way up to the end of his life. He was an active member of All Saints Parish in New Riegel. He had a special place in his heart for his dog Oscar. Our father deeply touched all of our lives and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-9 pm Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 South Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113, where a Wake Service will be held at 1:45 pm. Prayers will be said at 9:15 am Thursday, September 2, 2010, at the funeral home, followed by the funeral Mass at 10 am, at All Saints Parish, New Riegel, with Rev. Randy Geisige officiating. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery, New Riegel. The Rosary will be recited in Church 20 minutes prior to the Mass.

Memorials may be made for Masses, to the American Heart Association, or to the American Cancer Society.
