Dorothy A. Elchert, age 73, of Tiffin, Ohio, died Tuesday, January 23, 2001, at St. Francis Home, Tiffin. She was born April 12, 1927 in Tiffin, to Edward J. and Carmen (Prindle) Welter. On April 12, 1947, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Republic, Ohio, she married Hubert I. Elchert, and he survives. Also surviving are three brothers, Marion, Eugene, and Harold Welter; and two sisters, Frances Heilman and Olive Rinker. She was preceded in death by two infant children.
Mrs. Elchert was a beautician for 40 years and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, its Rosary Altar Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and the DAV Auxiliary, where she was a life member. The Funeral Mass will be 11:30 am Friday in St. Mary Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 & 7-9 pm Thursday at Hannay-Traunero Funeral Home, where a VFW Ladies Auxiliary Service will be at 8 pm, followed by a Wake Service at 8:30 pm. Memorials may be made to Community Hospice Care, St. Francis Home, or to a charity of the donor's Choice.
