Dorothy A. (Warnement) Brickner, 89, of Tiffin, died at 8:29 a.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at St. Francis Home, Tiffin.
Dorothy was born October 27, 1934, in Tiffin, to Cecil and Kathryn (Kennedy) Warnement. On June 18, 1955, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, she married James T. Brickner, and he preceded her in death on December 23, 1998.
Survivors include five children, Steve (Dee Dee) Brickner of Nashville, TN, Don (Angie) Brickner of Nashville, TN, Lyn (Patrick) Baker of Batavia, OH, Julie Griffin of Nashville, TN, Scott Brickner of Howard, OH; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Joann) Warnement of Tiffin; two sisters, Marge (Jerry) Brickner of Tiffin, and Betty (David) Batey of Fremont.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant brother, Joseph Warnement, a sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen (Herman) Tiell, and a son-in-law, Mark Griffin.
Dorothy was a 1952 graduate of Calvert Catholic High School. She had retired in 2015 after 44 years as an Office Manager at San-Mar Pharmacy and later, Rite Aid in Tiffin. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, including singing for decades in the mixed choir, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, a member of the Calvert School Board, and volunteered at the Allen Eiry Center, Ritz Theatre and whenever needed for St. Mary’s School and Parish as well as Calvert Catholic Schools. In addition, valuing our democracy as her parents did, Dorothy served over 50 years as a poll worker for elections here in Seneca County.
Dorothy devoted her life to raising her five children seeing that they all received a Catholic education. She enjoyed playing cards & bingo, visiting family and friends, spending time with family on the holidays (especially with her grandchildren), as well as attending Calvert football and basketball games. One of the highlights of her retirement was traveling with the St. Mary Church group to Rome for Mass at the Vatican.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, April 22, 2024, at the TRAUNERO FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883, (419) 447-3113.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at the funeral home with the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary Catholic Church with Rev. Matthew Rader officiating. The rosary will be recited 30 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
