Donald Grant Johnson, age 67, of Ohio Ave., Tiffin, Ohio died at 1:15 a.m. Sunday, August 29, 2010, at his residence. He was born January 15, 1943 in Blue Island, Ill. to Marvin and Lucille (Labriola) Johnson. He married Billie (Campbell) Wittig, April 1, 1983 and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Christopher Johnson of Columbus, Ohio; and Donald (Carla) Johnson, Jr. of Alsip, Ill.; three daughters, Kelly (Tyler) Shigley, Ginger (Mark) Escoe, both of Lansing, Ill., and Kim (Dan) Wittig-McCowan of Lockport, Ill.; 21 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren.
Don began his railroad career with the Chicago Rock Island and Pacific Railroad in Blue Island, Illinois. He continued his career with the Northern Ohio and Western Railroad owned by the Sandusky County-Seneca County, City of Tiffin Port Authority. Don retired with 43 years of railroad service. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Visitation with the family will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, August, 31, 2010 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883. (419) 447-3113. A wake service will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. The funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, officiated by Rev. Gary Walters.
Visitation will also be 4-7 p.m. Friday, September 3, 2010 with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Hickey Memorial Chapel, Blue Island, Ill.
Contributions may be made to the Arthur James Cancer Center, Columbus, Ohio and to Community Hospice Care in care of Traunero Funeral Home.
