Charlotte A. Schumm, 81 and Donald F. Schumm, Sr., 82 both of Tiffin, died together at 6:35 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013.
Charlotte was born October 15, 1931 in Tiffin to Edmund and Mary (Blaes) Szablewski.
Donald was born July 23, 1930 in Tiffin to George and Elizabeth (Dowdell) Schumm.
Donald and Charlotte were married October 20, 1951 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin.
Survivors include, a son, Donald F. Schumm, Jr. of Tiffin; six daughters, Ruth (Leslie) Bowman, Virginia Schumm both of Tiffin, Susan Fitch of Deerfield Beach, Fla., Carolyn (Donald) Echelberry, of Tiffin, Deborah (Danny) Collins, of Columbus, and Rose (Andrew) Crabtree, of Tiffin; 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Charlotte is also survived by a brother, Ralph (Teresa) Szablewski of Tiffin and a sister, Barbara (Charles) Fair of Centerburg, Ohio. She is preceded in death by four brothers, Charles, Robert, Louis and Edmund Szablewski; and two sisters, Phyllis Sturdevant and Martha Lewis.
Donald is also survived by a brother, Thomas (Annie) Schumm and a sister, Mary Scherger, both of Tiffin, and a brother-in-law, Victor Reamer of Tiffin. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Harold, Robert, and James Schumm and a sister, Elizabeth Reamer.
Charlotte was a homemaker and a Girl Scout leader. Donald was a 1949 Calvert High School graduate. He retired in 1993 after more than 30 years at the Whirlpool Corporation in Clyde. They were both members of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, and the Tiffin Eagles #402.
A combined visitation for Charlotte and Donald will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113 with a wake service at 5:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
Prayers will be said at 10 a.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 at the funeral home with the funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Joseph Szybka. The Rosary will be recited 20 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. The burials will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
