He was born to Charles L. and Goldie M. (Bolen) Smith, Sr. Dec 14, 1930 in Tiffin. He married Anna Louise Hochstettler Dec. 16, 1961 in Tiffin and she died Nov. 17, 2002.
He is survived by two daughters, Donita A. Smith of Tiffin and Paula (Lou) Mattero of Waterville; three grandchildren, Dominic, Gracie and Anthony Mattero; two brothers, James L. Smith of Tiffin, and Merle G. (Marilyn) Smith of Toledo; and three sisters in laws Lois Smith, Marjorie Smith both of Tiffin, and Ellie Smith of Prattville, Ala.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Charles, Paul and Martin Smith.
Donald was a 1949 Columbian High School graduate. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired as a glost inspector at American Standard. He also worked the carryout at Foodtown until 2002. He was a member of the First United Baptist Church, where he was very active. He was an avid Ohio State Fan and he dearly loved his family members.
Visitation with family and friends will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at Traunero Funeral Home and Crematory, 214 S. Monroe Street, Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113.
Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Friday, Nov 9, 2012 at First United Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 10 a.m. Pastor David Raulston and Bob Adelsperger will officiate the service.
Burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery immediately following the service. The United Veterans Council of Seneca County will perform military rites at the gravesite.
