Donal A. Pinkston, age 78, of 981 S. Hopewell TR 1085, Tiffin, died at 11:10 pm, Friday, April 14, 2006, at St. Francis Home, Tiffin.
He was born June 12, 1927, in Lawrence County, Arkansas, to the late Elmer and Hazel (Johnson) Pinkston. He married Catherine Reinbolt on August 5, 1950, in St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel, and she survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Michael and Chris Pinkston, both of Tiffin; a daughter, Debra Pinkston of McCutchenville; three grandchildren, Peggy (Brad) Evans and Elizabeth Pinkston, both of Fredericksburg, Texas, and Catherine Pinkston of McCutchenville; two great grandchildren, Katelyn and Steven Evans; three brothers, Les, Roy, and Roger Pinkston of Oklahoma; and a sister, Betty Spencer of Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Neal and Jerry Pinkston.
Donal attended school in Missouri before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he was honorably discharged in 1947. He and his wife Catherine opened Don’s Siding Company in 1957, and he continued to work in the business throughout his life. He was a member of the Tiffin Elks, Tiffin Moose, the American Veterans, Catholic Knights of Ohio, and St. Mary Catholic Church. He loved camping, cookouts, playing cards, and parties with family and friends of every sort. He was known to say, “If you’re having a party, I’ll be there.”
A memorial funeral Mass will be 11 am, Thursday, April 20, 2006, at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. David M. Ross officiating. Friends may call Wednesday, April 19, from 5:30 pm to 8 pm, at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St., Tiffin, Ohio 44883, 419-447-3113. The Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass at the church. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, or American Diabetes Association, in lieu of flowers.
