He was born September 23, 1952, in Tiffin, to Lee and Loretta (Weinberger) Swecker. He married Elizabeth Distel July 24, 1981 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, and she survives.
Other survivors include a sister, Jan (Al) Liskai of Fremont, and many adored nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by his parents, and two nephews, Darren Whitmer and Aaron Distel.
Dennis was a graduate of Columbian High School and attended Terra Community College. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Sanoh in maintenance in Findlay. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Amvets.
Dennis was an avid Harley Davidson fan and gardener. He had a passion for cooking and feeding family and friends.
Visitation with family and friends will be 4 to 8 pm Sunday, August 11, at Traunero Funeral Home, 214 S. Monroe St. Tiffin, Ohio 44883 (419) 447-3113. A Wake Service will be 3:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Prayers will be said at 9:30 am Monday, August 12 at the funeral home, with the funeral Mass following at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Joseph Szybka. Burial will follow immediately in Seneca Memory Gardens, with military rites conducted by the United Veterans Council of Seneca County.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Seneca County United Veterans Council in care of the funeral home.
MOTORCYCLISTS ARE INVITED AND ENCOURAGED TO RIDE THEIR BIKES AND MEET AT ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH. A PROCESSION WILL THEN BE ORGANIZED TO THE CEMETERY.
